Safer Internet Day 2023 will take place on Tuesday 7 February 2023
Safer Internet Day is recognised by over 150 nations globally. Netsafe coordinates Safer Internet Day here in New Zealand, to raise awareness and start conversations about a more positive online experience for everyone.
Our theme for 2023 in New Zealand is “Every Space a Safe Space”
Amid much media discussion about the importance of physical safety and crime prevention in our communities, coupled with a renewed focus on mental wellbeing at school and workplaces as we emerge from pandemic lockdowns, we want to encourage everyone to remember that Your Online Safety is as Important as Your Physical and Mental Wellbeing.
Every space we enter, should be a safe space.
We join with schools, industry and other organisations annually across Aotearoa New Zealand to promote Safer Internet Day and create downloadable resources and assets to help people celebrate and spread the word. These will be hosted on our dedicated Safer Internet Day NZ website (www.SaferInternetDay.nz).
In 2023, we will once again be asking organisations to publicly support the goal of building a better internet together.
By becoming a supporter you’ll help us to connect people in Aotearoa New Zealand with the information they need to keep them and their whānau safe. If you’re keen to join in in other ways, you can email: [email protected]. If you were a previous supporter from , let us know if you do not plan to renew your support.
We’ll include your logo as an official supporter on the Safer Internet Day NZ website coming soon and provide you with resources and support to help you celebrate the day.
In the meantime, there are many practical ways you can get involved, not just on Safer Internet Day, but all year around.
Whether you are a young person, a parent or guardian, an educator, a policy maker, or you represent an organisation or business, everyone has a role to play in creating and maintaining a better online world. Explore, and share, our existing resources:
