People are relying on the internet more than ever before which makes staying safe online very important. That’s why we’re inviting people to become a Safer Internet Day (SID) supporter again on 8 February 2022.
You can check out our SID microsite for more information and to download free SID 2022 resources.
What is Safer Internet Day?
Safer Internet Day is an international event aimed at encouraging and promoting a better online experience celebrated by more than 150 nations. Netsafe is the official organising committee in New Zealand and we’re inviting organisations, schools and individuals to join us and help spread the day’s messages.
Netsafe started coordinating Safer Internet Day back in 2014 and in 2021 we saw a record number of supporters joining together to help people have a more positive time online.
What do you need to do to support Safer Internet Day?
Supporters in 2021 included Facebook, Twitter, Google, Youthline, InsideOUT, Women’s Refuge and many more government agencies, schools and non-government organisations.
Netsafe will provide you with resources ahead of Safer Internet Day and you can choose how to best promote the milestone. It could be a social media post, an event talking about online safety, and more.
Our resources will provide advice and information about keeping safe online, including:
- Social media assets
- Online safety tips and supporting imagery to promote the day via organisational newsletters
- Digital banners and badges
- Printable posters
