Our education website "The Kete" is designed to make it even easier for teachers and schools to find the tools and resources they need to build online safety and digital citizenship in their school or kura.
The new Kete site features improved filtering, new resources for teachers and a self-assessment tool to benchmark digital capability.
All that's required is a school email address to create a sign-in.
Then you can explore all the resources available and even save all your favourites to your very own ‘kete’.
The Kete is organised into two main sections: School Tools and Teacher Resources.
School tools
Information and resources for Principals, school leadership teams, governors and trustees to support the safety and security of the school or kura digital ecosystem.
In this section of The Kete you'll find advice and guidance, collateral to support communication and engagement with the school community, user agreements, policy templates, plans and guidelines to help you build a sound foundation across the whole of the school.
Teacher resources
Support for all ages and stages
Our teacher resources offer a suite of online modules, lesson plans and worksheets, offering practical guidance on staying safe and managing risks online.
Resources are handily organised by year group and topic, making it easy to find what you need quickly and easily.
Teachers can share resources with students (for example the online modules) by using a QR code link to bypass sign-in requirement.
Capability review tool
We've developed an interactive capability review tool, based on the Netsafe Educator Framework, to support schools in reviewing their approaches to online safety capability across seven key areas.
Upon completing the assessment you'll generate a visual graph for easy interpretation to quickly see where things are tracking well, and where there may be some areas for focus.
You'll also have the option to select from a wide menu of suggested action items, to create your own custom action plan.
Youth Action Squad (YAS)
Netsafe's Youth Action Squad (YAS) empowers young people to speak up, take action and support each other on the online safety issues that affect them. The YAS is an opportunity for high school seniors to contribute to our thinking, plan initiatives, lead campaign activities and enact change in their communities.
