NetSafe was invited to represent New Zealand at UNESCO’s “Policies and Initiatives to Promote Children’s Safe, Effective, and Responsible Use of ICT: Asia Pacific Consultation” in Bangkok, Thailand in September 2015 .
The consultation promoted policy dialogue on the issues of the ethical, safe, and responsible use of ICT and to build the education sector’s capacity in fostering digital citizenship among children, a group of experts and practitioners, and representatives from various organizations and programmes.
This Regional ICT Consultation aimed to:
- share and verify the initial findings from the regional policy review and
- refine and revise the draft education sector policy recommendations.
In addition, the Consultation gathered key stakeholders in forming a regional consortium to a) set a regional direction while considering the region’s immense diversity and b) synergize efforts within identified core areas of intervention, including policy, research, education, and advocacy, among others.
